Shawna Kwan is the proud owner of Elan Dance Arts (EDA) in London, ON, Canada. She’s known for her passion, positivity and drive to mentor and impact everyone around her. She has always strived to strike a good balance between fun and strong training for her students. She has been teaching dance for over 20 years across Canada and the U.S.
She has successfully built, and is known for, the largest boys dance program around with over 60 boys training at EDA. Most importantly, her studio is known for being a welcoming place where dance is for everyone. EDA has a fun and unique culture that’s unlike anywhere else.
She’s trained in jazz, tap, ballet and has her ADAPT teachers cerftification. She specializes in musical theatre and hip hop. She’s also a classically trained singer with a performance background. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology for Western University. She was director for the dance and wellness programs for years at the university.
Shawna has enjoyed being both the choreographer and a dancer for the feature performance group for the Stihl Timbersports Canadian Championship. She has had this role for 5 years and this event has been featured on TSN. She was also, for four years, the creative director for the London Lightning Basketball Team, a 3 time championship team from the National Basketball League (NBL). Over the years Shawna has also had the pleasure of working with artists such as Andre 300, 50 Cent and Mark Wahlberg.
Shawna has students training on scholarships at the National Ballet School in Toronto, ON. Many of Shawna’s students have graduated and done professional work in the dance industry.
Shawna has been doing this amazing Dance With the Stars of 911 event for 9 years! She has had multiple couples win, but more importantly has made this event a fun experience for her couples and helped raise money for so many defibrilators that will save lives.
Shawna is a loving mom of 2 beautiful, young, energetic girls. She’s always doing what she can to work with and help others. She’s often told that her energy is contagious and wants to share that and build that up in as many people as she can!
